k I'm not gonna shoot my mouth off this time and say it's fixed but I THINK it is fixed.

Unless someone who know better says something (see this is part of why communities for this are good. Not just so I can tell you guys things but that y'all can all give feedback, because seriously I HAVE NEEDED IT!!! Thank you all so much!)

So here goes I made these templates and have examples of art at those dimensions.
Please let me know if you see any glaring issues!

TEMPLATES )

Example Art laid out )

Please look at these. I'm thinking they look pretty good. If you see a major problem with the sizes of the art and the layout, let me know.

If no one sees an issue, I'll formally announce the image size tomorrow.
And get notices out to make sure everyone knows about this.

To the extent of helping me not go crazy if you did NOT send me confirmation of involvement via e-mail (ie if you confirmed using notes on either DA or LJ) can you please send your e-mail address to anakinbester @ hotmail.com so I can add that to my files.

Thanks

ISBN, the paperback edition

Master, bless.

My dearest ones,

instead of resting this morning, as I had planned, I went ahead and got an ISBN for the paperback edition of Bring forth the best robes. Why wait? Might as well take care of it now. I then created a lulu version which will be available on my website until I know for certain that the PDF-X file I used for the ISBN paperback edition has resulted in a proper looking print (I have just ordered the proof copy). The good news is that the retail markup for a paperback is considerably less than for a hardcover, and thus I shall be able to sell the paperback through online sellers like amazon for the same price than on my website; the paperback will stay fifteen dollars. That made me very happy. I shall not have to keep the lulu edition on my website since there will be no price difference. However, the hardcover lulu version will remain, since it is cheaper than its ISBN counterpart.

If everything goes according to plan, the paperback and hardcover ISBN editions will be listed on amazon in two months or so. Egad. Well, you know. Que sera, sera.

For now, I am working on a light burden. Well, after breakfast and a nap. And I shall also be relaxing outside today. Yesterday evening, I read from The Imitation of Christ and felt very serene.

E is for Edward Cullen

This is the fifth post from the 26 things meme. Other posts: A | B | C | D

For those who don't know, Edward Cullen is a fictional character in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. Some things people should know about Edward: He looks 17 but was born in 1901. He's a virgin, which is funny. He's super good-looking, and when he gets out in the sunlight he sparkles. And of course, he's a vampire who can read minds.

Back in November I did a meme where I was supposed to list 10 things I love about Edward Cullen, and here is that list-
1. He’s cold. You know when you are sleeping and keep turning your pillow over to find the cold spot? Well imagine always having a cold spot within reach!
2. He’ll always stay young and attractive
3. He’s a vampire. Vampires = win
4. He’s rich
5. He’s very rich
6. He’s emo. Awww, emos are so cute. *pinches cheeks*
7. He sneakily gave Bella a big huge diamond.
8. Vampire
9. Vampire
10. Vampire
I've realized I don't like Edward Cullen as much as I like the fact that he's a rich vampire, lol. There are a lot of vampires out there, and Edward Cullen isn't the one for me. I'd prefer a 27 year old vampire or a vampire type from another book series (will get into that when I get to V in this meme).

Anyway, John Green, of Brotherhood 2.0 (something I watch religiously), said when asked to choose between Jacob and Edward, "Here's the thing about Edward Cullen--and by the way, I'm getting ready for thousands of teen girls to throw rocks at me. Edward is a very beautiful, but very empty vessel into which we can stuff all our hopes and aspirations. And believe me, I understand that people who are primarily ideas are a lot more attractive than people who are primarily people. But I have to say, in my personal experience, being in love with a person who is mostly an idea is not really a sustainable situation. All of which is to say, and Nerdfighters, please forgive me... Jacob."

Good Point made:

[info]naadi commented:
that any art that is turned in to you that is actually 8x11 will have to be resized by the layout people because it will actually be too large to fit on the page. Is there any way it can be decided now what the actual size will be when the art is printed (I know it will be a ratio of 8x11) but that would save the layout people a lot of work, and would save the art possibly losing quality by being resized. And since we're talking about having to potentially resize some 400 pieces, wouldn't it be better if that wasn't needed to be part of the process.

Ok yes yes there is.
When I get home I will look at my photoshop mock up and see how large the actual image is.

It is however a ratio of 8 X 11.

I'm so sorry about the confussion.

Though granted from the responses I've gotten I think it's one of two things either people were past the point of no return and I'll be adjusting their art anyway, or you'd not yet started, so hopefully this ins't causing anyone more than a two day delay in starting.

And if you are past the point of no return, don't worry, I've already got many works finsihed that are different sizes.
After Portus, we will gather together and disscuss what can be done.

I'm almost glad this came up because I think it exposed a major issue BEFORE it became a major issue.

BTW: I'm working on getting the following info up pre- Portus:

Finalize the friggen art size
Dropped chapter/ Waiting list info
List of People who need to still contact me
Provide an image template

Those are my HP Art Project goals for the weekend.
Yes I have no life this 4th of July.

After that I will be taking a small break to make sure my Portus Watercolor presentation is in order and I'll be at that convention.

Master, bless.

My most precious ones,

because I worked so hard on my projects yesterday, and because I am evidently a giant child, I just ordered the Sesame Street Old School DVD sets, volume one and two.

Today's post was brought to you by the letter "S" (for silly).

Goodness, I can hardly wait to watch those old shows again... They were so amusing, in a sweet-natured way.

The ISBN task was exhausting because I am loath to alter things that I managed to complete successfully. I fear that if I tinker with them, I shall ruin them. So going through with the process was a victory for me.

I am learning. I am also trying not to be too much of a perfectionist... It is a balancing act. Sometimes keeping things the way they are is the wisest course of action.

Good night, my dearest ones.

The moral here. People suck. Books that have people in them suck. And Bug is not nearly as healed over things as she thought she was. Okay, she's actually a little bit wounded over somebodything else and can't let go of it and just needs to move and throw herself into finding things about a new place to love so she doesn't have to think about it any more.

Master, bless.

My most precious ones,

I have been working a great deal.

I took a deep breath and got an ISBN for the hardcover edition of Bring forth the best robes (it was my practice run). Getting the ISBN felt like the right thing to do. I ordered my proof copy to make certain the PDF-X file prints correctly, and then, if lulu approves the formatting... Online distribution through websites such as amazon. Ah, amazon, the introvert's best friend. The costs involved are higher -including the cover price- but as I understand it, using a POD service like lulu is the most advantageous option for a self-published author, even with the higher distribution costs (Sell your book on amazon by Brent Sampson). Hopefully, the paperback ISBN edition will be less expensive to produce (I shall create it after I know that the hardcover print looks the way it is supposed to). I shall continue selling the cheaper lulu versions on my website, and I shall see if I can have a few copies of the paperback ISBN edition available at local independent bookstores, and perhaps even Chapters (they have a small "regional authors" display), at a lesser cost than online. I shall also see about offering the book to local libraries. I have a few ideas, and helpful marketing -shudder- books I can consult. Brent Sampson also advises authors to sell copies of their own books through amazon's marketplace once their titles are listed.

Heavens. I am learning a thing or two as I go along.

Since I was going through all that trouble, I could not help myself and edited the original manuscript so that it contains but one error (that I know of), which I left there on purpose: "In the Epistles to the Galatians." Both the hardcover and paperback lulu versions are now edited.

This little adventure in publishing was somewhat draining. But at least I have taken the first step as far as this whole ISBN business is concerned...

I shall have to have a nap soon. I was up early and worked, when I really should have gone back to bed.

I shall let you know how the lulu distribution approval process goes. If they give the book two thumbs up and it eventually ends up on amazon, your slightly petrified professor will beseech you to write a few positive words about it, if you are willing... The notion of having a book available on amazon is a bit petrifying, I must confess. The flawed professor will be better; Bring forth the best robes was my baptism.

Forgive me for not having updated "Darkest before dawn" yet... I shall do so soon.

exactly 2,915 days ago and 2 hours. I walked into Nami up to Fukuhara-san and he started teaching me sushi. I was learnign the names for eveyrhting etc. it was a tuesday. we got a fish delivery. I rolled rolls. I think I did an eel cucumer and cali. they looked horrid and I took forever. now, if 5 days I will have been doing sushi for 8 years. I had to work the day of 9/11 I still remember that as well... it was strange. this was just an odd fact I thought of that needed a post. I was 12 and a half when i learned, I am now 20 and am still learnign every day i go in. it took me about 5 years to get to the point of fastness where i was happy. now i get nothin dirty as I make it, I can make and plate sushi rolls in less then 30 seconds and i can plate nigiri in about 15, its a stage in my life I will never forget, but hopefully its nearing its end.

This is the fourth post from the 26 things meme. Other posts: A | B | C

Yeah, its been about 2 weeks since I last did one of these entries. Mostly because I was waiting to post the bag I'm giving away at my presentation at Terminus. And I kept doing other crafts, so I kept putting it off and putting it off - but finally, starting these things again. :D

So, duct tape. I like it, a lot. I'm including electrical tape in with duct tape because the two go together so well. The first time I did anything duct tape and electrical tape related was when I saw a tutorial on leaky that I had to try out. From that, I got one electrical tape tie, and a new/cool craft. The rest of the entry has some pictures, so click keep on reading )or you can just skip straight to the new bag )

HELP! Something has Gone Wrong:

Post thoughts, suggestions and preferences TODAY. Decision will be made when I get home 'cause I may need to re-contact everyone which means I need to decide ASAP

Well, things were going too well for something to not go wrong, so now somethign has gone wrong.

[info]naadi questioned the 8 X 11 size and looking at it, yeah that should say 8.5 X 11 so that the ratio of the picture matches that of typical printing paper. I seem to not know the actual size of pritning paper *head desk*

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to fix this considering submissions have already been turned in for several people?

I'm considering changing the size to 8 X 10.5 ( or 8 X 10, actual people who print is there a preference?)so that there is room for the border and the blank printer space then e-mailing the change to everyone. I would then work with the already finished art and the art that is too far along to change now.

Or should I keep it the size it is and work with it when we print it out?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Help?

I'm really sorry abut this -_-

-Ani
